Maman Tribeca – Maman, the bakery and café, is known for its family-inspired recipes and is the result of a collaboration between Michelin Star Chef Armand Arnal, Entrepreneur and Restauranteur, Benjamin Sormonte, and Entrepreneur/Event Planner/Designer Elisa Marshall. While that Michelin Star may not impress your little one, we can assure you the tiered-stands overflowing with little cakes and the beautiful china and teacups will bring your child’s imagination to life. PLUS! There’s a long table in that back that would be PERFECT for a birthday party. To make your tea more kid-friendly, substitute the tea with fancy juices and French pastries.
The Plaza – We know every little girl’s dream is living life like Eloise, even if only for a day. The Plaza has an adorable Eloise inspired tea room that serves a children’s tea complete with tea sandwiches , a dessert spread that is as pinked-out as the Eloise dress up room, and other goodies like pink lemonade, vanilla iced tea, and a variety of hot teas. And, while the Plaza is sure to be super fancy and pricey, it is also an experience your little one will never forget. My little one still asks to drop by and see her friend Eloise every time we get about 50th street!
Madeline’s – Not an Eloise fan? Then how about Madeline! Located at the Carlyle Hotel, the Madeline’s Tea pays tribute to the children’s book series and the room is filled with author-illustrator inspired murals. The children’s tea includes a buffet of kiddie-approved food like mac and cheese, pancakes, and cupcakes, as well as the traditional tea sandwiches.
Alice’s Tea Cup – Themes seem to be in for our favorite tea spots in NYC and Alice’s Tea Cup is no exception to that. This whimsical spot with locations all over Manhattan will catch your little’s eye. The walls are filled with butterfly wings and images of Alice and her friends. They have a kid’s menu and a wide variety of food options – even delicious salads for the health-conscious mama. Alice’s Tea Cup is a favorite as it is both fantastical and fairly-priced.
Lady Mendl’s – While more traditional than the other spots on the list, Lady Mendl’s true Victorian tea salon will be a mini-me pleaser for sure. Kids will feel very special in this space as the décor is fancy and old fashioned and doesn’t offer a children’s tea menu. Take the whole family for Lady Mendl’s to enjoy a five-course tea with sandwiches, scones, and desserts.
