Ever since we discovered the program a few years ago, we’ve been dropping off our kiddos (already dressed for bed!) regularly on Friday nights. From 6pm – 8pm, kids aged 2.5 – 8 years can attend the ultimate PJ party that embodies a different theme each week. From Trolls to Lego to Superheroes to Halloween, you’re bound to find one that will get your littles excited for a night out.
First, the kids are led through an obstacle course, keeping the theme in mind, which is a wonderful exercise for both their imaginations and their bodies. The trampoline is a favorite for our littles and they can bounce till their heart’s desire while listening to music curated to go with the theme. “Video Killed the Radio Star” for a robot-themed party? Yes, please!
Then, the kids move on to an art project, led by the talented NY Kids Club staff. Kids are encouraged to indulge their wildest ideas and create with a variety of craft supplies. The creations are always inventive and adorable and eases the guilt for having a glitter-ban at home – there’s plenty of glitter here. Score.
Last, the littles enjoy a pizza dinner complete with storytelling and dessert to round out the night and you can indulge in your own dinner in the neighborhood and bookend your week with a few hours for yourself. It’s truly a win win. The best part is that the kids are already in their PJ’s, fed and exhausted by the time you get home – all you need to do is get them home to bed. It truly is the best Friday night for all. Some weeks we check out a new restaurant in our neighborhood, others I escape to get a massage with a girlfriend, and sometimes I just go home and curl up with a book. You’d be surprised what you can accomplish in a couple of hours.

And if you want more out of this neighborhood gem, there are a whole host of weekly classes for kids two months to 12 years old. From mommy and me music to dance, gymnastics to Spanish, chess to art, there’s something to entertain even the pickiest of kids. We loved our mommy and me gymnastics class that we did when the kids were small and are still friends with the kids (and the mamas!) that we met in the class. Given the variety of locations all over New York (and Chicago!), NY Kids Club is the perfect addition to your activity rotation.
