Hi everyone, I’m Miriam and I have a confession. I want to take you behind the scenes and give you a closer look into my life as a lifestyle blogger. Sure, I love taking beautiful photos and sometimes those beautiful photos may give the illusion that my life is organized and put together, but the truth is – my life is not as glamorous as it may appear. I will be exposing a few ugly truths which are quite embarrassing to reveal but I’m doing it because I want you to know the real side of me.
Confession: My white space is messy!
Confessions of a Fashion Blogger
If you follow me on Instagram then you already know that I like to take product close-up photos on a white background. I love that it looks very clean but I have to admit that my white background is not always perfect and mess-free… This white background you see is one side of my dresser which is used for photos and the other side is… my “catch all”. Though you see this:
100% of the time, my dresser looks like this:
Confession: My home occasionally looks like we just had an earthquake.Blogging is a full time job! I try very hard to keep my home tidy, but some weeks are definitely busier than normal. With blogger events to attend or different jobs that come up which require me to be out and about, I don’t always have the time to keep up with work around the home. During those busier weeks you can be sure that there’s a desk full of unopened mail, a basket full of dirty laundry, my husband is most likely living off of instant noodles and my living room looks like this:
Confession: I don’t dress up everyday…I try to put myself together everyday– “try” being the keyword, but the truth is I don’t. I have a very active toddler so most days don’t allow me to curl my hair, put on make-up or pick out a cute outfit to wear. I’m lucky if I even get a chance to eat something before noon
. Most days I’m usually in some sort of athletic stretchy pants with unwashed hair and zero make-up. It’s just not practical for me to be chasing my daughter around in 4″ heels.
(yes that is my daughter laying on the floor refusing to change out of her pajamas)Confession: I have one day photo shootsI know this is very common with most fashion bloggers and I am definitely one of them… I wish I had the time and energy to photograph my “blog-worthy” outfits on the day that I actually wear the outfit but the truth is, I pre-plan about 4 outfits and photograph them all in one day. Yet again, with having a little one to care for, my husband and I don’t have the luxury to drop everything, scout a location and shoot photos whenever we please. Don’t let the pretty clothes fool you, usually I’m sweating from the 3-4 outfit changes in our car.
Confession: I take a million photos!
In addition to the confession above regarding my ‘one day’ photo shoots, I confess that the 5-6 photos that make it to my blog are selected from about 50-70 photos. I am not photogenic nor am I a model. Most of the time I feel uncomfortable and awkward in front of the camera (perhaps I should have picked a different genre to blog). My husband has to take a lot of ‘no good’ photos for me to be satisfied with a few ‘ok’ photos. Aside from being ‘model challenged’, throw a toddler in the mix and you get a lot of photo-bombing.
