We believe that motherhood belongs on the resume. We believe
that motherhood
belongs on
the resume.

It’s beyond time to finally tear down the deep cultural bias against mothers in the workplace and recognize motherhood for what it really is: a training ground for leadership. That’s why we’re launching Motherhood On The Resume (MOTR), a movement to validate the unpaid labor of moms, de-stigmatize taking time off from work for motherhood, and recognize the strengths moms bring to their professional lives, not in spite of being parents but because of it.

Starting May 18th, join us by adding “mother” to your resume. In turn, we will arm you with the resources and know-how to translate everything you’ve learned as a parent into tangible professional strengths and skills. We can only do this if we all do it — when we band together and celebrate all that we bring to our careers as mothers, we set the example and open doors for everyone else.

MOTHERHOOD IS A TRAINING GROUND FOR LEADERSHIP

American workers think that working moms:

89% BRING OUT THE BEST IN THEIR EMPLOYEES
65% ARE BETTER LISTENERS
51% ARE CALMER IN CRISIS
47% ARE MORE DIPLOMATIC

Yet motherhood isn’t seen as an advantage. In fact, it can be a career killer:

75% of expecting mothers are excited to go back to work after giving birth —
but 43% of moms end up leaving the workforce completely.
HALF of working mothers say becoming a parent has made it harder to advance in their careers.
33% of working mothers have been passed over for a promotion or important assignment because they have children.
Women lost ALL of the 140,000 jobs in December 2020, while men gained 16,000 jobs

Our goal is to get 1,000 women to add motherhood to their resume by National Women’s Equality Day on August 26th.
