Taking a trip to California is always a good thing! For this Mom Life feature, we’re sharing everything about Pasadena from heymama member Annette Vartanian. As the founder of A Vintage Spelendor, Annette loves sharing her vintage/modern style and shopping guides (you’ve got to check out her vintage shopping guides!). Read on to check out more about Pasadena from this stylish LA mama.

1. Tell us about your brand.

I’m the editor of A Vintage Splendor, a lifestyle blog which showcases my vintage meets modern style, both in my personal wardrobe and chic Pasadena home. When I’m not sharing my daily outfits, I love to create shopping guides and offer vintage tips to my readers.  A Vintage Splendor has been featured in The Zoe Report and Domino and collaborated with brands including Target, Starbucks, Fossil, and Murad.

2. Tell us about your city or town.

I live in the beautiful city of Pasadena which is home to the Rose Bowl, the home from the movie Father of the Bride, one-of-a-kind restaurants, boutique shops, and many arts and cultural institutions. I can go on and on about Pasadena because I love it so much. It’s a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

3, Where’s the best place to get coffee or tea?

We’re so lucky to have so many great coffee shops in town. My top three are: Lincoln, Copa Vida and Lavender & Honey.

4. Best place for drinks?

For cocktails, I love The Raymond, which is a restaurant and bar in a quaint cottage with a garden patio. It’s a perfect weeknight spot for drinks with friends or date night.

5. Favorite place for new moms to hang out?

The Huntington Library and Gardens is where I went multiple times a week when I was a new mom. The gardens offer a beautiful backdrop when you’re eager to get out of the house, plus you can get in a nice workout when you’re pushing along the stroller. There are a lot of new moms who will meet up in the children’s garden for an unofficial mommy group.

6. Best place for toddlers?

We’re lucky to have so many kid-friendly places in Pasadena. Harlee loves the Kidspace Children’s Museum and the Huntington Library and Gardens. I love how the Kidspace Museum offers kid-driven experiences through a variety of programs and exhibits. The Huntington has a children’s garden with interactive sculptural elements based on the themes of earth, air, fire, and water; Harlee can spend hours splashing in the fountains. The Rose Bowl Flea Market is another family favorite. While it may not be for every kid, it’s a great place to explore and shop for fun toys and trinkets.

7. Family-friendly restaurant where you’re ok if your kids freak out.

True Food Kitchen is a perfect spot for family dinner! If our babe decides to have a meltdown, we can take her on the patio and look at the people and cars zooming by.

8. Where would you go if you had a free weekend?

Our favorite weekend getaway is Palm Springs, which is just under a two-hour drive. We love the architecture, poolside cocktails, and vintage shops.

9. Favorite place to go for a moms night out?

The Langham Hotel is a favorite amongst my mama friends. Whether we want a luxe afternoon tea or cocktails The Langham is the top choice. We love meeting for drinks at the hotel’s bar The Taproom.

10. Favorite place for a date night?

Without a doubt Union Restaurant! It’s an intimate neighborhood restaurant and bar featuring farm-to-table Northern Italian cuisine. We love everything on the menu and it’s our favorite date night spot.

We hope you enjoyed this mini trip to Pasadena! Share some of your go-to spots in the area in the comments section.
