Not Safe For Mom Group Founder/ Community Builder Wellness Brooklyn, NY
About Alexis
I am the founder of a Not Safe For Mom Group (NSFMG) -- digital community that invites women to talk candidly, and without shame, about the grittier sides of the motherhood experience. We publish boundary-pushing content, and produce interactive panel-style events and meetups that bring our online conversations to life. It has been a thrilling ride, and we only just launched this past August.

I'm also a freelance writer for parenting websites, and a published children’s book writer. My work has been featured in sites such as Mindr, Beyond Mom, Romper, Fatherly, Hey Mama, and Well-Rounded — among other places.

In my past life, I was a children's book editor at HarperCollins and Random House, and most recently -- a publisher for the U.S. arm of a small French children's publishing company based in Paris.

My current goal is to continue to grow my community, and build partnerships with like-minded communities that share my mission to change the narrative of how motherhood is often portrayed in our culture. I'm collaborating with some great women and brands -- some that I've found through Hey Mama, to help further my goals.

I live in Brooklyn with my husband and our two lively, loving boys. More about my professional work can be found at http://www.alexisbaradcutler.com.

Whenever you feel stuck or unhappy, even the smallest shift (in thought or behavior) can make a world of difference.

Best advice you've ever been given

I had a yoga teacher who gave me great advice that I’ve found it helpful as an overachiever and hyper focused person in general: Do less.

What special skill, talent or gift would you like to give back to the community?

I am a skilled group moderator, and have a special knack for helping people find and tell their personal stories, or identify their goals and missions. I can generate buzz and excitement for events among communities, and can host and help produce a panel event for your motherhood brand/business that is centered around group talk and honest conversation.

Personal Passions, Charities, Hobbies:

I enjoy supporting charities such as the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, The Center for Reproductive Rights, The Human Rights Campaign, and the UJA Federation, and many other charities. My hobbies include aerial dance and silks, writing and editing children’s books, and seeking out the perfect dirty gin martini.

What is your biggest business challenge right now?

Funding & Finance

Name one thing that scares the shit out of you:

The health and wellness of my children and family.

What is one thing that would be game-changing for your business right now?

Brand partnerships and funding.

If you could tell your 20 year old self one thing, what would it be?

Find the mentors. Not the ones who just “say” they want to mentor, but the ones that actually love doing it.

Why do you want to be a part of heymama?

Meeting amazing, driven, talented women who are changing the game in their industries.
