Be persistent, be empathetic and wear what you want.
Business Wise - Take the total amount of money you want to make in a year. Now take the total numbers of hours you are willing to work in a year and divide it. That’s your hourly rate. If at any point in time, you are doing something that isn’t generating you income that is at or above the hourly rate - drop it and move on.”
Personally - My grandmother - “Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. Wear what you want.”
I love my job because it allows me to actually energize neighborhoods in interesting ways by bringing fresh food and beverage or entertainment concepts to a given market. On the giving back side, though, one of my goals for this year is to get more involved in a food related charity, like Food Rescue US. I have so many contacts in the F&B space and it seems like such a tragedy that we aren’t successfully feeding everyone in a world where we have more than enough.
My children first, but I love to cook, exercise, travel, explore. I’m finally getting back into reading real books with paper pages and it’s like being reunited with a long lost friend. I donate to many charities throughout the year, but prefer children’s charities or those that tackle basic needs like hunger (Food Reacue) or reading (Literacy Volunteers is America.). Last year, I collected baby carriers for Syrian refugees. That felt very rewarding.
Saying “no” when the opportunity before me doesn’t suit my goals or align with my business plan. I always want to help and I care so much about my relationships, that it’s sometimes to my own detriment.
The concept of me or my children dying. The thought of final separation torments me.
One stellar partner who could steer me at a 10,000 ft view.
Be thoughtful with your sexuality. It can be a tool for good or bad. And put a bra on!!
Because it so difficult to connect with successful, like-minded mothers...
