Patricia de Picciotto

NY Art Experience Founder Design New York, NY
About Patricia
I was born in Hong Kong from Lebanese parents who had left Beirut because of the war. I was then raised in Geneva, Switzerland where I stayed until I graduated from college with a BA in Marketing and Communication, then spent a couple of years in London to study for my GIA and gain experience in Jewelry.
I lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for ten years, where I met my husband and had my three kids. I founded a jewelry line, Pasha Joias, but stopped for a few years when I had three boys under 4 year old.
We were lucky to move to New York over three years ago, where I live fully and intensely all the city has to offer, socially and culturally. I went back to being a student, at Christie's Education, for a year, and then pursue my passion in art and founded NY Art Experience to offer a glimpse at the city's diverse art scene through tours in galleries and shows.

What special skill, talent or gift would you like to give back to the community?

I would like to educate people about art, not only through important museum's exhibitions, but to show that you can find art and see art everywhere around you, especially here in New York. It's about learning to appreciate art, without needing to be a connoisseur or collector: art can be everywhere and for everyone, to find the beauty in it, can be blissful and open minds creatively and personally.

What is your biggest business challenge right now?

Why do you want to be a part of heymama?

I came with my husband and sons to NY three years ago and I am always amazed by the women I meet here. I was never surrounded by so many talented women who achieved incredible careers while also being a mother. Until I moved here, I grew up with this idea that a woman couldn't have it all, the work life and the family life, that achieving a balance was almost impossible and a choice had to be made. I myself stopped working when my three boys were all babies as I thought I had to focus solely on them and leave my job on the side. I really believed that being a mother of three will not give me the option of being a working mom again. When I moved here, not only I realized it was possible, I concretize this dream by studying art history full time for a year and then start my own venture in a world that I always had a passion for.
I love meeting like minded women who try to juggle their different hats and show that you can have it all, and be surrounded by the right people who help and motivate you by proving that it is all possible.
