Rebecca Clark

Kiki LaRue CEO Fashion Roanoke, Texas
About Rebecca
I’m 35. Mom of a very easy, 11 year old boy, Chandler. He’s an over achiever just like me. We organized chaos. Both of us. I’m a Type A, OCD workaholic, non alcohol drinker but somehow still the life of the party every. single. time. My kid goes to a fancy private school (because it really is the best and all I’ve ever wanted was to send my kid to the best school) and I’m NOT the “has her shit together” Mom but teachers love cookies and I know someone. So, I’m this crazy busy workaholic and my kid is a Jesus lovin, child genius who thinks pre-AP math is his easy class. (Uh. Nope). I’m not sure how I got that kinda kid but I know someone else had to have some brilliant perfect kid and wonder if they’re doin it right! The BUSINESS: I would say I’m the boss of Kiki LaRue but today was a 16 hour workday and I feel like I’m actually a well paid question answered. I also own a screen printing and embroidery company, I design and wholesale my own denim for curvy chicks and I’m coming out with a line of hot tools (a crimper, I’m serious, you’ll see) and I just launched a loungewear line, a wear to work line and a monthly box. The box is a mystery, $75 and non refundable and we sell out every time. Tons. It’s insane. I started all this as something fun on the side and this month, I was listed on the Inc 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in America. My husband is that boy you dream about when you’re a little girl. And I’m the lady I mentioned above...Bless his heart. He is a software engineer who quit his dream job to help me run mine. I stuck by him for ten years as he traveled all over the world for work while we had a little baby so these days, he’s a retired software engineer, on my payroll, still wants to make out with me everyday and gets every other Friday off. He’s what you call, “living his best life.” That. Yes. That’s Ben. And I’m still the lucky one but I wouldn’t admit that to his face.

What special skill, talent or gift would you like to give back to the community?

I’m very good at marketing, brainstorming and talking to people. People like me because I’m successful and that’s admirable and all but I’m very down to earth. More than most who's businesses have grown like mine. I value people over things. Also, that sentence was the complete opposite of down to earth, but I think you get my point. I’m dont sugarcoat anything. I genuinely love people. And my words AND actions show that. I try to encourage others to do more of the same.

What is your biggest business challenge right now?

Leadership & Scale

What is one thing that would be game-changing for your business right now?

Getting a spot on QVC with my denim line! My tribe is that age bracket they need! It’s a win/win!

Why do you want to be a part of heymama?

I’ve built a cult brand. With that comes this community of incredible women who root for me and cheer me on. It’s incredible and I’m so thankful. But they’re also, my clients. And sometimes, I want to be turned off. I want to talk about YOUR business and what YOU love to do in the summer. I want to blend in and listen more than I talk. And get back some of that sense of normalcy. My whole life has been Kiki LaRue for five years. I wouldn’t trade a day of it, but it would be nice to be the person no one knows before I know them. And to be around other women hustlers, who get it. They understand. When someone owns their own business, they see life differently.
