With our 3rd Annual Strong Like a Mama retreat under our belt, we think it’s safe to say that this is the event of the year. From the dreamy Hamptons home, to our incredible panel of experts, to all of our fabulous members who helped bring all of our visions for the day come true, it was truly a day we will always remember. We couldn’t have pulled it off without the love and support from our friends at Birchbox. The Build Your Own Box Station set the tone for connection and fun and we couldn’t have had a better partner for our big day.
Over the past three years, Strong Like a Mama has become the ultimate day for self care and reflection and it’s amazing how just a few hours of indulgence can recalibrate you to be the women, business leaders and mamas we all strive to be. Our mama tribe is like none other and we’re giddy with pride over what we’ve all been able to accomplish together.
We opened the day with a warm greeting at the insane home of HEYMAMA member and Shift Stirrer, Tinamarie Clark. Mamas mingled with morning coffee by Rise Brewing Co., juices by Marve and lite bites from Provenance and we loved seeing women meet IRL for the first time after following each other’s story for years.
To set the intention for the day and leave our stresses behind, we indulged in a mediation led by renowned meditation teacher, Jackie Stewart. It was such a wonderful reminder that by only taking a few minutes to breathe and calm your inner voices is all you need to start your day off with an open mind and heart.
Next, we moved to the great lawn to workout alongside the talented Melissa Wood-Tepperberg, Founder of Melissa Wood Health. Melissa’s new workout, “In the Flow” is a combination of Yoga and Pilates style sequences using nothing but our own body weight. We loved the custom HEYMAMA x Beyond Yoga mats that all of us got to keep as a reminder of our amazing day.
Melissa is currently pregnant with her 2nd baby and she credits this routine with getting her in shape and feeling her best for all of her life stages. If you want to see her in action, check out the interview we did with her back in February.
The highlight of the day was when we joined together with Tinamarie Clark, Lindsey Bliss, Founder of Carriage House Birth, Colleen Wachob, Co-Founder of Mind Body Green, Dr. Deepika Chopra, Optimism Doctor™️ and Melissa Wood-Tepperberg for a open women’s circle to discuss the Heart Space Connection. We shared how we navigated being vulnerable, open and honest, finding “happiness” and how we care for other mothers and ourselves. There were so many great threads throughout our chat and we were laughing and nodding in effusive agreement from beginning to end. One mama shared, “This was the best panel I’ve ever been to!” and we know that she’s been to a lot! Awwww… we think it was pretty great too.
We paused for lunch by the gorgeous pool provided by Provenance which was absolutely delicious before moving on to a Workshop and Cycloce Meditation by Spiritual Teacher, Biet Simkin. We chatted about the “Law of Success” and how we can use our own power to bring fulfillment to our lives. We closed with an epic mediation which we’re still thinking a week later.
Throughout the day our mamas had the chance to indulge in our Zen Den and treat themselves to a braid at Brichbox’s Braid Bar, a Cryo Facial by @Higer.dose, (check them out this summer at Gurneys in Montauk!), a massage by Barbara Bartley Baldwin of Every Day Spirit Connections and a Tarot Reading by Liza Fenster. It was just the right oasis of mystic pampering all to the beat of DJ Amanda Usher.
To end the day we joined together for rose in the rose garden (as one does!) and had the best time catching up with each other and do a little shopping before heading back out to reality. We spent a little too much time in the Love Shack Fancy pop-up and will definitely be visiting their new shop in Sag Harbor. J’adore!
Overall, we were reminded that when women come together, magic happens. We know that with each other’s support we can literally change the world of those around us, as well as for ourselves. The day was a wonderful reminder to slow down, enjoy the journey and take time to care for ourselves so we can achieve the best lives possible. We are already excited to dream up a bigger and better event for next year. Until then…Namaste.
