Welcome to Winter’s room update with the wonderful new West Elm x Pottery Barn Kids collection. These two awesome companies recently teamed up to create a beautiful nursery line that combines West Elm’s signature mid-century style with Pottery Barn Kids’ craftsmanship. I am so eager to show you guys this new line as I know you will love every piece of it.
We went back and forth on if we were going to update the entire room to accommodate our new baby or just keep it Winter’s room for a bit longer. We decided we would create a really special space for Winter as the baby will be in our room for many months in the beginning. While our kids will share a room one day, we didn’t want to take up precious space in Winter’s room if it wasn’t going to be used. Plus, we don’t know the gender of the baby so we wanted to wait until we met our next son or daughter before we changed up the aesthetic of the room too much.
I know that Winter is approaching a significant transition in her life. When it came down to it, we really wanted Winter to have a peaceful space that she could call hers to retreat to while she adjusts to life as a big sister. We cannot thank Pottery Barn Kids enough for the new items.
So let’s dive in. When we previously revealed Winter’s nursery (here), we had just moved in. Her room was the first room in the house to be decorated and it fit her perfectly as an 8-month-old. But now, as she continues to grow and her interests are becoming more apparent, we wanted to update her room to accommodate her personality a bit better. We also wanted to allow for more storage because even though the baby won’t be in the room, his or hers clothes will be, so we decided upon another dresser.
So first things first, let’s talk about the Modern 6-Drawer Changing Table and Modern Night stand. I love mixing mid-century modern with a bohemian flare and I think these two pieces accomplish that by offering such a clean and inviting vibe to the room. I love that both pieces are made in a Fair Trade Certified™ facility and crafted with solid wood.
The changing table features 6 drawers, three for Winter and three for the baby. We can’t pick favorites after all! Eventually, we will put a changing pad on top of the dresser to accommodate the baby’s needs too. But for now, Winter loves to put her stuffed animals on top and says that it’s their home. It’s quite adorable if you ask me!
Winter loves to read. She is seriously a reading machine. And while she has a book nook just outside her room that Perry built, we wanted to make reading even more accessible, so we moved our rocker to the other side of the room near her book shelf and paired it with our new night stand.
This has been the best design decision thus far. We have already spent hours rocking in the chair and the night stand makes it so easy to stack her favorite books within arms reach. It also comes with a pull-out drawer that Winter uses to store her flashlight in the event we read one of her glow-in-the-dark books.
Another piece you may notice is her Half moon crib fitted sheet in Platinum which is made of 100% organic cotton. Winter calls it her luna (meaning “moon” in Spanish) bed now and loves the sheet. She also snuggles with her new Unicorn thumbie friend which is also from the collection and she insists that it goes to sleep with her every night.
There is one last finishing touch that you don’t see pictured here which is this Graham Glider in Dove Grey. It is still in the process of being made, so once it’s here, I will do some stories to show you it up close.
