Being a gastroenterologist, I’ve noticed the strong connection between what’s happening internally and how people look on the outside. I have researched probiotics my entire career and have seen the life changing impact they have had on my patients. Probiotics have a balancing quality both inside and out. I would say that for optimal health, one should take probiotics as a supplement (or get it via foods) and apply it to the skin. A lot of skin concerns are primarily caused by inflammation. Acne, redness, irritation, even wrinkles are all due to inflammation. Did you know that collagen breakdown, which leads to wrinkles, is also caused by inflammation?
Probiotics help soothe the skin and also have been clinically proven to increase the skin’s barrier function. That means your skin is stronger, healthier, more resilient and holds on to moisture better and longer. This is the foundation for healthy, youthful skin.
Eating a balanced diet is a great way to get your skin healthy, but I have to say that it’s very difficult to truly eat a balanced diet. Busy moms often sacrifice their meals to make time for kids and/or work. While eating a complete and balanced diet is difficult or even unrealistic, supplements are a great way to get nutrients and probiotics so you can ensure you’re getting your daily dose of what you need to feel and look great.

The first two products in this collection are launching in August and the third, which we’re working on now, will be coming out in January. All I can promise is that it will be a true savior for dry, chapped skin – a “recovery” if you will.
I wish women would stop doubting themselves especially in the workplace. Women often have something called the “imposter syndrome” where they are unable to internalize their successes and feel like frauds. Confidence is so important and deserved!
The biggest skincare mistake is women often are searching for a quick fix. This doesn’t exist. It takes good skincare and a routine to achieve healthy skin. Stick with it ladies, it will pay off!
Sugar is a bad one in my book. I would stay away from refined sugar because it’s a known pro-inflammatory food. Sugar leads to collagen breakdown and causes your skin to lose elasticity, which in turn leads to wrinkles and sagging.
Yes, most people will greatly benefit from taking a probiotic. They are so wonderful for digestive health and there is more and more research coming out talking about how probiotics can also help with skin, immunity and even mental health. I don’t think we’ve reached the tip of the iceberg in terms of how beneficial probiotics are. With that said, you should always consult with your doctor before starting a new supplement, especially if you are pregnant, nursing or have a medical condition.
Probiotics! It’s a “natural” ingredient which is so powerful and benefits so many aspects of our health. Probiotics can increase metabolism, decrease bloating, sooth irritated skin, and boost immunity. Now we’re seeing that probiotics are helping other ingredients you put on your skin work better and harder – due to their impact on your skin barrier function.
I don’t think probiotics are a trend, I know they are here to stay and will become a part of our daily routines. Remember to get your daily dose!
My main mantra is as long as my kids are happy and healthy, nothing else is as important.
I like to have a glass of warm water with lemon every morning, meditate before heading to work, and work out as often as I can. This gives me energy and helps me refocus.
I think of it in two ways. A beautiful person is one who is caring, compassionate and kind. That comes from within and manifests itself in a warm, radiant energy.
Beauty can also be created from “within” by eating healthy, sleeping enough and making sure you treat your body well. There is no substitute for taking good care of yourself.
Don’t try to be a perfect mom. Be caring and loving and don’t sweat the small stuff. The most important thing is to provide a loving, safe environment for your children.
Ask for help. The happiest moms are those who ask for and get support.
Be a good example. Be a mirror for your kids. If you want them to be present, get off your phone. Model the behavior you wish to see in them.
