Lisa Lewis has a tradition in her home on Fridays that she calls #rocktails. With the help of her husband, the duo pick a different cocktail of the week and then pull together a themed playlist to go alongside it. They invite a few friends to come over and just let the week go, have a few drinks and listen to great music out loud. It helps that Lisa works at Sonos so her soundsystem is top notch.
Below, Lisa has shared three of their latest playlists along with the recipe for their drink of choice to kick off the holiday season. Let’s get this party started!
Spiked Apple Cider
1 oz spiced rum
2 oz apple cider
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon maple syrup
Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorous. Strain into a glass and garnish with apple slice and cinnamon stick.
Since the Apple is known as the forbidden fruit, we pulled together a list of songs about forbidden love, unrequited love, and love that just can’t be. Click here.
1 1/2 fluid ounces lemon vodka
1 fluid ounce Cointreau
1 fluid ounce cranberry juice
2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lime juice
Long thin piece orange zest
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, Cointreau, and cranberry and lime juices. Cover and shake vigorously to combine and chill. Strain the cosmopolitan into a chilled martini glass. Twist the orange zest over the drink and serve.
This playlist features cosmopolitan areas from around the world. All song titles must be the name of a city. We start on a road trip from Boston across the US, a backpacking adventure in Europe, a quick stop in Asia, and end our journey in South America. Who says we never leave Marblehead? Here are some very classy track choices to match our drink choice. Click here.
3 ounces gin
1 tablespoon superfine sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1tablespoon lime juice
3 or 4 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients except the soda in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a highball glass and fill with soda.
We culminated this playlist with artists that contain the letter Z. And to add a little extra flavor to the night we played a game…to see who could name the artist at the start of each new song. Click here.
